Making improvements to your home

Making sure that the homes we manage are safe, modern and decent is important to us - which is why each year we invest millions of pounds in carrying out wide ranging improvements on your homes.

The types of improvements we deliver varies but can include:

  • External improvements: such as new roofs, fascia, soffits, rainwater goods, windows, doors, pointing.
  • Internal improvements: such as new kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Energy efficiency improvements: such as boilers, loft insulation and external wall insulation.
  • Safety improvements: such as electrical works, smoke alarms, mechanical ventilation and fire stopping.

The improvements we carry out are based upon information we hold about our properties, from periodic physical inspections we carry out, (known as stock condition surveys) and from reviewing our repairs information.  

Allowing us access to your home for stock condition surveys helps us understand the condition of our housing and informs our plans for future investment.

Current planned works

Between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025 we have a scheduled plan for works we will be delivering across the city.

If your home is part of a planned investment programme, you will be contacted directly in advance of the works commencing with details of the improvements to be carried out and timescales for the works to be completed.

  • Balby Bridge Town Centre Estate: Render and roof replacement scheme benefitting Cusworth House, Firbeck House, Sandbeck House, Hatfield House, Methley House.
  • Balby Bridge Town Centre Estate: Fire safety improvement to high rise blocks.
  • Cantley: External Improvements benefitting 300 properties. Improvements include roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal.
  • Hexthorpe: Energy Efficiency works to 42 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Hyde Park: Energy Efficiency works to 36 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Intake: Fire safety improvements to high rise blocks.
  • Town Centre: Energy Efficiency works to 5 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • White Towers: Site and amenity block improvements.

  • Arksey: Energy Efficiency works to 19 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Bentley: Fire Safety Improvements to Heartswood.
  • Carcroft: Energy Efficiency works to 17 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Skellow: Energy Efficiency works to one solid wall property. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Woodlands: Energy Efficiency works to 124 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Tickhill: Energy Efficiency works to eight solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Conisbrough: Energy Efficiency works to 42 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Edlington: Energy Efficiency works to 56 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Mexborough: Energy Efficiency works to 8 solid wall properties. Improvements include external wall insulation, loft insulation, roof, fascia, soffit and rainwater good renewal as required.
  • Boiler replacements to 1,300 properties across the city.
  • Consumer unit replacements to 2,500 properties across the city.
  • Electrical and mechanical improvements such as smoke detection, carbon monoxide detection, extractor fans and positive input ventilation to 1,066 properties across the city.
  • Flat roof replacements to 364 properties across the city.
  • Kitchen and/or bathroom replacements to 200 properties across the city.
  • Garage site improvements to 15 sites across the city.
