Debt Advice

If you have debts and are struggling with repayments it would be useful to get some specialist debt advice to discuss the best way forward for you.  There are various ways to deal with debts and it is important to get specialist advice to find the right option for you.

The Money Advisor Network is a free Government sponsored partnership for creditors in the public and private sector.  St Leger Homes of Doncaster has joined this network to help our customers who are in financial difficulty access free regulated debt advice.  Our core data protection obligations and commitments are set out here:  Data Protection – Your Privacy Matters (stlegerhomes.co.uk) 

This notice provides additional privacy information for those accessing the Money Advisor Network through St Leger Homes of Doncaster and describes how we collect, use and share personal information about you and the types of personal information we need to create a referral for you.  

Personal information we collect and use 

Information collected by us: 

The information we collect will be the minimum we need to refer you to the Money Advisor Network and will include the following personal data: 

  • Customer’s full name (mandatory) 

  • Telephone number (mandatory) 

  • Email address (optional) 

  • Consent indicator 

We will always ask for your consent before proceeding with the referral service. 

How we use your personal information 

We collect your personal information for the following purposes: 

 To assist with financial help and give access to a network of advice agencies. 

How long your personal data will be kept 

We will hold your personal information in line with St Leger Homes of Doncaster’s retention schedule.  At its expiry date the information will be reviewed, and only retained where there is an ongoing requirement to retain for a statutory or legal purpose.  Following this your personal information will be securely destroyed. 

Reasons we can collect and use your personal information 

The lawful basis on which we collect and use your personal data is that: 

  • Processing will only be carried out once you have given consent.  You can opt out at any time. 

  • Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out within the legitimate interest of St Leger Home sof Doncaster. 

We hold the information in line with the following legislation: 

  • Data Protection Act 2018 

  • UK GDPR 

Who we share your personal information with 

Only where you have given your consent, information will be shared with the Money Advice Network. 

We have a data sharing agreement in place to ensure we only share the information with the Money Advice Network for the intended purpose. 

Keeping your personal information secure 

We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way.  We limit access to your personal information to those who have a genuine business need to know it.  Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality. 

We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security incidents and we will notify you and the appropriate regulator of any incident where we are legally required to do so. 

When computers make any decisions about you? 

We will not make or use automated decisions in relation to the Money Advice Network referrals. 

When your data is sent to other countries? 

We do not sent any information we collect about you outside the United Kingdom.

Healthy Start and Healthy Homes

Healthy Start - If you're more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk.  You can find information here:

Drug and Alcohol Support

If you are struggling with alcohol or substance misuse or addiction it can be difficult to focus on other things, such as your finances, work or maintaining your tenancy.  There are organisations in the local area that can support you with these issues via tailored 1-1 support or group sessions.  Please see below for further information: 

 

Mental Health Support

If you are struggling with mental health issues, it is vital that you speak to your GP as soon as possible.  In addition, there are other organisations that can support you.  Please see the links below for further information:

Foodbanks

Food banks are not-for-profit organisations that provide food and support to people who are struggling financially.  They rely on public donations to continue supporting people in crisis.  Doncaster food banks will accept food donations during their opening times, if you want to donate at any other time please contact the foodbank directly for their drop off points.   

Times are difficult for everyone right now and food banks are more important than ever.  If you are struggling and don't have any food then please look at the links below to locate a food bank that operates in your area.
