Staff of St. Leger Homes have helped to provide food for around 260 meals for local people in need by collecting for food banks.
The company has spearheaded the efforts by encouraging employees to bring food to its recent staff conference. Further support was given by Tesco who added to the conference donations.
The company, which manages around 21,000 properties on behalf of Doncaster Council, has been collecting for food banks since last year. Staff across its workplaces have volunteered to be ‘food bank champions’, helping to co-ordinate the project.
Chief Executive Susan Jordan said: “Our staff have really got behind this practical charity campaign. I know many of them have been very keen to help because they work closely with the community and see how difficult it is for some people to afford the basics.”
November’s donations have been shared between Doncaster Food Bank and Thorne & Moorends Food Bank.
