We urge all our customers to take out Home Contents Insurance. Some people mistakenly believe that their furniture and personal belongings are automatically covered by St. Leger Homes of Doncaster. This is not the case.
If you are uninsured you risk financial loss from burglary or theft and from damage from hazards such as fire and burst pipes.
Home Contents Insurance is available from many different sources, including insurance companies, insurance brokers and banks. Numbers for these are available in your local telephone directory or Yellow Pages or from the yell.com website or from other web based search engines. Contents Insurance through St. Leger Homes of Doncaster
St. Leger Homes has recognised the problems that tenants face in getting insurance, so we have arranged a Home Contents Insurance scheme, which is geared towards your needs. The scheme is set up with Marsh and underwritten by Royal SunAlliance and offers you the following:

- No excess payable in the event of a claim
- No security requirements on your property
- New for old cover
- Cover for theft, flood, fire, water damage, freezer contents and vandalism
- Simple + includes accidental damage cover
- Cover for theft or loss of keys
Changes from 1 December 2021
From 1 December 2021, URIS Group, a specialist insurance administrator, will manage the scheme on our behalf. Unfortunately this means the scheme is temporarily unavailable to new customers. If you’re already part of the scheme, please continue to pay your premium until the end of November 2021. URIS Group will write to you before 1 December 2021 to confirm your new premium for the forthcoming year, including ways to pay URIS Group from 1 December 2021, including direct debit or a Payment Card so you can pay at Post Offices and PayPoints.
Claims Against St. Leger Homes
The structure of your home – such as foundations, external walls and roof – is the responsibility of St. Leger Homes . If the structure of your home is damaged or destroyed by fire, for instance, this is our responsibility. However, damage to the contents of the home are your responsibility and need to be covered by Home Contents Insurance.
You may make an insurance claims against us for any damage, loss or injury for which we are responsible. For example, if one of our maintenance staff accidentally burst a pipe in your home, resulting in damage to your furniture, you would have legitimate cause to make a claim against us.
If however, tiles were blown off your roof in a storm and, as a result of this damage was caused to a carpet in your home, this might not be our fault.
Every claim against us is properly investigated and treated on its merits. We will never unfairly reject a claim. To make a claim you have to fill in an insurance claim form.
