The aim of the Empty Property Matching Service is to match empty home owners who would like to sell their property, with people who are looking to buy an empty home - this may be a landlord, property developer, investor, or even a first time buyer. To be eligible, the property needs to have been registered empty for at least six consecutive months.
Buyers and sellers can register with the service and their details will be recorded on a database along with basic property information, including:
- Property type and size
- Location
- Price
- Condition
St Leger Homes role is simply to introduce buyers to prospective sellers. Other than monitoring the effectiveness of the service, there is no further direct involvement from St Leger Homes (unless a new owner is interested in St Leger Homes managing the property through St Leger Lettings).
Benefits of joining the property matching scheme
- The property matching scheme is a FREE service.
- Returning empty homes back into use has positive effects on local neighbourhoods and can provide much needed housing for the residents of Doncaster.
- Empty properties provide vacant possession to prospective buyers.
Any negotiations or sales are solely between the buyer and seller. If at any time a property is for sale with an estate agent then the buyer/seller should liaise with the agent due to contractual conditions. We strongly advise buyers and sellers to take independent professional legal advice before entering into any contract or other legally binding arrangement.
