To mark World Mental Health Day on Friday on 10 October we are sharing information to raise awareness and give advice to help improve our mental wellbeing.
Our Mental Health Navigator service
Our Mental Health Navigators are a small team who provide a free service offering support and advice to customers who may be experiencing difficulties with mental health and wellbeing.
This includes support with issues such as low mood, anxiety, stress or sleep problems. It involves working directly with customers who want to take the first step to addressing these issues. Support is available to those who do not currently have other mental health services working with them.
If you currently have other support with your mental health in place, we may need to signpost you to your existing support. This is to make sure you are receiving the most appropriate level of help for your needs.
How we can help you
The team work with you to identify areas of support. They work with you to create a personalised support plan and then offer practical and emotional support to help you meet these goals.
With your consent we will help you liaise with other professionals involved in your care and can make further referrals where needed. We always promote self-advocacy and we will empower you to use your own voice to best support yourself.
Support sessions can take place in your own home or in a community setting if this is more appropriate.
Some customers who received support recently said:
"I received mental health support from my landlord and it wowed me, you don’t really think they would put that in place."
‘Without the navigator’s help and support I would have struggled and spiralled downwards. This mental health intervention is a vital link to stem what could become a crisis’
Our Mental Health Navigators said: "It’s amazing being able to make such a positive difference to tenant’s lives and we get a great deal of job satisfaction from our role and seeing the impact it can have.”
