12 young people are taking their first steps in a new career as they begin apprenticeships and student placements with St Leger Homes.

Nine of the group are starting craft apprenticeships in the organisation’s Repairs and Maintenance department where they will take on roles in the gas fitting, electrical, roofing, and bricklaying teams. The apprenticeships will last for three or four years depending on the trade, with each young person being trained up to NVQ Level 2 or higher.

Three students will also join St Leger Homes for one year work placements in the Health, Safety and Compliance, Business Transformation, and Human Resources and Organisational Development teams.

Aman Adal, Apprentice Electrician, said:

“St Leger Homes is one of the biggest companies in Doncaster so I think that this apprenticeship is going to give me a great chance to reach my end goal, which is to learn my trade and progress in the housing sector.”

Paul Tanney, Chief Executive of St Leger Homes, said:

“I am delighted to once again be welcoming so many young people into our organisation to learn their trade as part of our annual apprenticeship programme.

“St Leger Homes is proud to have provided comprehensive training for over 100 apprentices from the local area since 2005. 97% of our former apprentices have gone on to secure full time employment with us, which is testament to the high quality of the training that we are able to give people.

“I wish all of our new apprentices and work placement students the very best in their future careers.”
