St Leger Homes of Doncaster is celebrating winning at the Northern Housing Awards for the work we have done reaching out to and supporting tenants and residents. We were successful in three categories at the awards ceremony held in Manchester on Wednesday 16th May.

St Leger Homes won the top award in the following categories:

  • Best Partnering Scheme of the Year – for the work done with Doncaster Children’s Services Trust and Doncaster Council to provide care leavers accommodation in Cantley
  • Best Initiative For Tackling Homelessness – focussing on the Complex Lives work alongside colleagues at Doncaster Council
  • Best Resident Involvement Initiative – looking at a variety of initiatives and services we provide putting customers’ needs first, including the Tenants and Residents Involvement Panel (TRIP); Customer Service Charter; STAR tenant satisfaction survey; our diversity work; as well as our innovative Tenants’ Choice Awards

We were also runner up in a fourth category, ‘Tenant of the Year’. This recognised the work that tenant Annie Farrand does to support local residents and the wider community at the Moorends Miners’ Welfare and Development Centre – who consider her a winner anyway!

Paul Tanney, Chief Executive of St Leger Homes, said: “We’re delighted to have picked up three awards this year at the inaugural Northern Housing Awards. We were proud to have received four nominations across many different areas of our work, and to win in three of these categories is fantastic.

“These award wins shine a light on the highly effective way that St Leger Homes is working with partners Doncaster Children’s Services Trust and Doncaster Council to provide quality services to local people. Our customers remain at the heart of everything we do, and these awards are not only for us but for the amazing tenants we work on behalf of day in and day out.

“Thanks to everyone who has worked alongside us to help make such a positive difference to the local community.”

Mark Douglas, Director of Children’s Social Care at Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, said: “We are thrilled that together with our partners, St Leger Homes and Doncaster Council, we have scooped the top prize for ‘Partnership Scheme of the Year’. This is a fantastic accolade and recognition of all the hard work and determination by everyone involved to improve the support available for our young people as they prepare to leave care.

“The real reward though is seeing and hearing the impact the additional support and the supportive environment provided through the home is making to the lives of the young people living there.”

Pat Hagan, Head of Localities and Town Centre for Doncaster Council, said: “We are delighted the complex lives work has been recognised at the Northern Housing awards. We are committed to working hard as Team Doncaster to ensure that all residents across the borough receive the help and support they need.”
