To mark Gas Safety Week (18th-24th September) St Leger Homes of Doncaster is reminding people about the importance of having a yearly service of their gas appliances to keep themselves and their homes safe.
The local housing provider which manages over 20,000 homes for Doncaster Council, is committed to ensuring all its homes are well maintained and gas safe. Last year 100 per cent of gas boilers in its properties received an annual check-up.
The seventh annual Gas Safety Week will see over 5,430 organisations from across the UK working together, to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
In addition to the annual service which all tenants receive, St Leger Homes now offers a boiler service for private customers too.
Jackie Linacre, Head of Repairs and Maintenance at St Leger Homes, said:
“Carbon monoxide poisoning affects over a thousand people in the UK each year and can be fatal. We put the safety of our tenants at the heart of what we do and we are proud that last year we serviced 100 per cent of the gas boilers in our properties.
“We’d like to remind our tenants that gas servicing of appliances is vital to keep them safe and reliable. Getting access to our properties to carry out the gas service is important. When we can’t access properties the delays potential increase the risks to our tenants and their families. Please help us to keep you safe.
“For any private homeowner in Doncaster concerned about the safety of their gas boiler or fire, we now offer a service at a cost of £55.00 + VAT. This can be booked by calling 01302 862862 (Option 1) from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm, Monday to Friday. Put your mind at rest and give us a call.”
