St Leger Homes of Doncaster

National Shortage Of Building Materials

Fix it.png

Tenants might be aware that there is currently a national shortage of materials for use in building and repair works – this is an issue, which is unfortunately affecting everyone in the building and housing sectors.

We are doing everything possible to ensure that the supply of materials for our work at St Leger Homes of Doncaster remains as stable as possible, but there will be times when we are not able to obtain the materials we need to undertake our work on your behalf. This isn’t just an issue we are facing in Doncaster, but something everyone across the country and globally is experiencing too.

Please be assured we are working hard to do everything we can to minimise the disruption to our services.

Unfortunately, this may mean people experiencing longer than usual waiting times for work to be completed – and for this we apologise. We will prioritise emergency and urgent repairs and ensure that all repairs are completed as quickly as possible, working with our contractors and partners wherever we can, but it may mean that some non-urgent work will be delayed.

We understand that this news comes at a time when demands on repairs have risen by 25% – please be assured we are working hard on your behalf to resolve these issues, but much of this is out of our control with reduced manufacturing capacity due to Covid, customs delays caused by Brexit and limited driver availability causing this national shortage. Alongside this building projects supported by Government investment will continue to be prioritised, which will continue to have a negative effect on us and other housing providers when trying to source materials.

Both in the UK and globally, demand continues to outstrip supply, which has significantly increased the lead time of materials and in some cases suppliers are receiving a rationed supply of materials, which has resulted in an unprecedented challenge for many of us.

It is foreseen that the shortage of materials will continue to be an issue until at least the end of 2021, and in some cases well beyond. Thank you for your patience during these challenging times.
