In April we are planning to launch our electrical testing visits for 2021. It’s important that we keep our tenants and their homes safe – so if you receive a letter from us arranging an appointment do make sure you let us in, or contact us to arrange a more convenient time.
The Institute of Electrical Engineers suggest that a domestic property should be tested at least every five years and we want to ensure all our properties are well maintained and safe in line with this guidance.
Normally a test will take up to three hours to complete, however if any items requiring corrective work are identified, the test may take longer, and occasionally a further appointment may be necessary to complete any more detailed work.
Power to the property will be off for the duration of the test and our electrician will need access to the fuse board, sockets, lights and all other electrical accessories.
All St Leger Homes staff carry identification and we would encourage tenants to check this before allowing someone into their property – if you have any concerns or you need any extra information, call us on 01302 862 862.
We will be following the latest advice and guidance from the Government and Public Health England during these visits to keep both tenants and our staff safe. We will write to tenants receiving the electrical testing to outline what is required at the time of the visit.
Finally, we would ask that if you receive a letter arranging an electrical resting visit and have tested positive for coronavirus and are currently isolating; or are isolating because you think you have symptoms and are waiting to take a test; or are waiting for a test result – please let us know so we can rearrange this visit where possible.
Keeping you safe is our priority.
