Signs of carbon monoxide leakage include soot staining or condensation and burning with a yellow flame.  If you notice any of these, contact our Gas Section (link to gas safety page) immediately.

Children, elderly people, pregnant women and people with respiratory problems are particularly at risk from carbon monoxide poisoning.  Symptoms can include:

Headache / vision changes

  • Drowsiness / tiredness
  • Flu-like symptoms / muscle aches
  • Shortness of break / difficulty breathing
  • Rapid pulse
  • Dizziness / fainting
  • Emotional changes / confusion
  • Nausea, vomiting / diarrhoea
  • Chest pain
