As a tenant,
you have a responsibility to care for your home and to undertake
some minor repairs yourself.
You are responsible for the following:
- All repairs to fixtures and fittings installed by yourself
- All internal decorating
- Sweeping chimneys
- Electric lamps and fluorescent tubes (unless in sheltered
scheme)
- Plugs and chains to baths and sinks
- Coat hooks and curtain rails
- Clothes posts and washing lines (except in communal areas)
- All garden maintenance, including tree and hedge cutting
- Floor coverings
- Minor cracks to plaster
- Door bells
- Changing locks caused by lost keys (unless in sheltered scheme
or elderly)
- Cracked or broken glass, unless caused by vandalism, in which
case a police incident number must be submitted
- Boundary fences
- All repairs caused as a result of damage, misuse or
negligence. St Leger Homes will carry out such repairs but the
work will be subject to a charge

Agreement will give you further details
about your responsibilities as a tenant of St Leger Homes.
Communal areas
Please report any repairs that are needed to
communal areas, including lighting. If you are aware that any
damage has been caused deliberately, please let us know so that
this can be investigated and, where appropriate, charged to those
that caused the damage.
