Communal Heating Charges
If you live in sheltered accommodation you may be liable to pay
a service charge for your heating and hot water.
Some sheltered accommodation units have a heating and
hot water supply which runs off a central boiler therefore each
flat pays a service charge for this amenity in with their
rent. If you are allocated a property in this type of complex
you will be informed of any charges when you sign your Tenancy
Agreement.
Please note that Housing Benefit payments do not cover payment
of your heating charge and therefore if you are entitled to
full Housing Benefit the heating charge will have to be
paid by you.
Should you need any further advice please contact your local area office and ask to speak
to your Rent Officer.
