A Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) is a group of
people who work together to improve the area in which they
live. Associations are voluntary groups who ensure your
community has a stronger voice and that you can make a
difference.
The Doncaster Federation of Tenants and Residents Associations
(DFTRA) is the borough wide body that all TARAs and TCs (Tenant's
Club) are members of. There are currently 65 TARAs and
TCs in the Doncaster Borough.
The DFTRA has a committee that meet regularly to discuss both
local and national housing issues, they are known as the Standing
Joint Committee (SJC). The SJC consists of 8 St Leger
Tenants, 4 Residents, 2 Housing Association Tenants, 2 Private
Sector Tenants and 1 Leaseholder.
Every month there is a formal consultation between St Leger
Homes and the SJC to ensure that the views of the community are
included in all aspects of housing management.
The DFTRA is based at the Tenants' and Residents'
Resource Centre, 40 St James Street, Doncaster. Please
