St. Leger Homes, as part of the Safer Doncaster Partnership, is taking tough action against tenants whose anti-social behaviour affects others.

Staff at St. Leger Homes have been working closely with Doncaster Council and South Yorkshire Police to tackle the troublesome tenants.

Through partnership working a closure order was placed on 63-year-old Brian Skinn’s home in Thorne. This meant his home was locked up for one month and he wasn’t allowed to live there. Subsequently an eviction warrant was executed, bringing an end to antisocial behaviour – including noise, drunken behaviour and nuisance caused by visitors - which had been affecting many residents in a block of flats on Fieldside Road.

Also Julie Taylor (35), of Lime Tree Grove, Thorne, was evicted as a result of noise nuisance and antisocial behaviour. There was also great concern about the overall condition of the property.

Close working with Doncaster Council’s noise monitoring team helped St Leger Homes and Doncaster Council evict a couple from their home on Doncaster Road, Kirk Sandall. Daniel Ketley (34) and Charlene Sutherland (25) were evicted for noise nuisance which affected several residents living nearby.

St. Leger Homes of Doncaster collects evidence for the cases, while Doncaster Council takes the tenants to court.

Alan Hindson, St. Leger Homes’ neighbourhood housing manager, said: “Staff working in the Thorne and Stainforth offices have worked hard with our partners to achieve these evictions. We will not tolerate antisocial behaviour in the homes we manage. Eviction is always our last resort. We do try and work with the tenant who is causing a nuisance, such as antisocial behaviour, but when behaviour does not improve we have no alternative other than legal action.”

Councillor Ransome, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods Regulatory/Customer Services and Housing for Doncaster Council said: "Anti-social behaviour is completely unacceptable and I want to stress that we will be tough on anyone who is causing disruption to other residents. In this case I am pleased to see such positive results that have been achieved through the collective efforts of St. Leger Homes, the council and police."
